Hey Everyone

i'm a Public Reations student which means i have to take Marketing and advertising papers as wel as Business/P.R ones.

For one of my papers i have to design the overview for a print, radio, T.V and online advertisement.

I am currently working on the layout of the print ad and am having issues.
My notetaker has tried to explan what it visually looks like to me and i came to the conclussion that a print ad looks like a newspaper article with a heading, picture and words, but aparently they look different and i can't figure out what it looks like.
she has shown us print ads but only on youtube.

has anyone here taken an advertising class?
how did you learn what a print ad actually looks like?

Hi there!

I have no experience with this myself, but a friend of mine took a class where he had to design print adverts, and he said that they made an exception for him (he cleard this with his Disability Service, and it was then cleared with the lecturers involved), and instead of being marked on layout, he was marked on the content of the ad and how well it communicated the message etc.

I asked him about your issue, and he said if it was him in that position again, he'd go to his lecturer and explain how it was impossible for him to produce this type of visual layout, but that he was still willing to do the assignment, it just needed to be adapted.

Hope that helps!! GOod luck! :)

Hello Kat! :) I kind of have a similar issue with one of my classes, where I have to write a 150 page paper; it includes a lot of charts, graphs, and mapping. Fortunately, I have a private tutor to help with the charts and graphs, but the mapping is impossible for me to do because it's completely visual. I spoke with the professor about it though, and he said it was fine if I just write out what the goals, strategies and actions are for my company instead of having to map them.
So, maybe you could describe how you want your print advertisement to look and someone can draw it, or you could write out what you want your advertisement to say... Talk to your professor about it and maybe he or she will have some other ideas too.
Hope this helps! :)

Hey Guys

spoke to my professor and she basically said if i described what my ad would look like that will be significant, but i also have to verbally demonstate the difference between a print ad layout and a newspaper article, oh fun times ahead!

thanks for al the suggestions!
